Power Engineering Student (Primrose/Wolf Lake) - (2211636)

The Opportunity: As a Power Engineering student, you will contribute to the successful operation of the Wolf Lake/Primrose CSS (Cyclic Steam Simulation) in Situ Oil Sands site. In this role, you will gain valuable steam time, exposure in a CSS environment and training that can be applied towards your Power Engineering Program. You will assist in day-to-day operations while receiving mentorship and coaching from an experienced Operations team to further develop your career. Reporting to the Team Lead of Operations, you will contribute to the safe and reliable operations of the plant and ensure that planned production, quality and environmental targets are met. Key Accountabilities:

• Monitor the unit to ensure all production rates are achieved and maintained
• Assist in daily rounds and routines associated with all steam generators
• Learn the layout, purpose and operating parameters of your designated area
• Support Operators in the preparation and maintenance of equipment
• Participate in safety programs and maintain a safe work environment

Other Details:

• Location: Primrose or Wolf Lake site, Bonnyville, Alberta
• Shift Schedule: 7 x 7, 12 Hr days, alternating day and night shifts
• Terms: January 6-month, May 6-month, May 4-month

Skills & Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a Post-Secondary Power Engineering Program
• Requiring 3rd or 4th Class steam time
• Previous mechanical skills in either work experience or extra-curricular activities would be an asset
• Excellent team work, communications skills and mechanically inclined
• Ability to work 12 hour shifts, day and night rotations
