Post Quantum Cryptography (pqc) Tech Lead

Toronto, ON, CA, Canada

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled

Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Tech Lead

to drive cryptographic modernization efforts and ensure systems remain secure in the era of quantum computing. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in classical cryptography, strong knowledge of PQC algorithms, and hands-on experience developing migration strategies from classical to post-quantum or hybrid cryptographic models. This role will work closely with security architects, engineering teams, and product groups to design, implement, and guide the adoption of PQC solutions across enterprise applications, databases, and cloud environments.

Responsibilities

Lead the assessment, design, and implementation of post-quantum cryptography strategies. Provide expert knowledge of classical cryptographic algorithms (RSA, ECC, AES, SHA, etc.). Guide the creation of cryptographic bills of materials (CBOM) and perform crypto-inventory and risk categorization. Evaluate and recommend PQC algorithms (NIST candidates, hybrid models, lattice-based, hash-based, code-based, multivariate). Develop migration roadmaps from classical cryptography to PQC or hybrid models. Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate PQC solutions into databases, applications, PKI systems, and cloud environments. Stay updated with NIST PQC standardization efforts, best practices, and emerging threats. Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical direction to junior cryptography engineers and security teams. Partner with stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and data protection frameworks.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cryptography, Information Security, or related field. 10+ years of experience in security architecture and cryptography, with significant hands-on work in classical cryptographic algorithms and protocols. Deep knowledge of data protection suites, PKI, key management systems, TLS, and secure communications. Familiarity with post-quantum cryptographic algorithms and real-world applications. Experience building crypto inventories (CBOMs) and conducting risk categorization. Strong background in designing and executing cryptographic migration strategies. Excellent understanding of compliance standards (NIST, ISO, GDPR, FIPS 140-3). Proven leadership skills and experience working with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience implementing hybrid cryptography in production environments. Contributions to cryptography research, open-source projects, or standards bodies. Hands-on experience with cryptographic libraries and toolkits (OpenSSL, Bouncy Castle, WolfSSL). Familiarity with cloud-native security tools (AWS KMS, Azure Key Vault, Google Cloud KMS).
