Position:

EDC Student Position - Investment Team (4-8 month contract)

Compensation Details:

Student, New Grad & Master's salaries range from $42,900 to $56,550 annually, based on year of study. Please see the salary breakdown by year of study below: 1st Year: $42,900 ($22.00/hour) 2nd Year: $44,850 ($23.00/hour) 3rd Year: $46,800 ($24.00/hour) 4th Year and Beyond: $48,750 ($25.00/hour) New Graduate (Undergraduate): $54,600 ($28.00/hour) Master's/PhD: $56,550 ($29.00/hour)

Location:

Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change) This role will be performed from EDC's headquarters in Ottawa.

Overview

EDC Investments is an evergreen investment group with over $4 billion in committed and invested capital in private equity, venture capital, and fund investments. EDC Investments is seeking a Co-Op student with a financial background and a demonstrated interest in private equity investments to be an important contributor. The candidate will be a current student of an undergraduate business school program, with a concentration in Finance. The role will involve portfolio management activities, conducting research, and assisting with transaction due diligence, including building financial models and assisting with fair market valuation.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Monitoring:

Assist the team with monitoring the performance of a portfolio of investments and prepare fair market valuation assessments.

Data Analytics & Reporting:

Assist the portfolio management team with data analytics for reporting up to the Investment Committee and leadership.

Due Diligence:

Assist Analysts and Associates with specific elements of diligence and investment proposals by conducting research and analysis of highly complex and/or high-risk transactions.

Financial Models:

Utilize customized Excel financial models for valuation, risk assessment, and cash flow profiling purposes.

Transaction Teamwork:

Work collaboratively within a team of private equity specialists and EDC internal teams, including business development, technical advisory services, legal services, treasury and accounting, and risk management.

Legal Documentation:

Develop familiarity with term sheet provisions

Screening Criteria

Currently enrolled in an Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance. Demonstrated outstanding financial modeling skills.

Assets

Previous Co-Op experience in a private equity, investment banking, corporate development, consulting, or transaction services setting. Bilingualism in both official languages (English and French)
