The Gynecologic Cancer Initiative (GCI) and the Department of OBGYN in the Faculty of Medicine, is seeking a [full-time (1.0 FTE) Postdoctoral Research Fellow to perform research on treatment strategies for low-grade serous ovarian cancer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to Dr. Dawn Cochrane, the incumbent will be responsible for:
The project will involve characterization of innate immune signaling in LGSC cell lines and testing novel therapeutics (eg. oncolytic viruses, antibody drug conjugates and T-cell engagers)
Lab duties, including but not limited to: cell culture, viral transduction, western blotting, qPCR, immunofluorescence and cloning. Additionally, there is the possibility of mouse xenograft studies.
Working as part of a collaborative team, the fellow will mentor junior lab members, prepare manuscripts stemming from this work and contribute to funding applications.
QUALIFICATIONS
Successful applicants will have:
A PhD in biology, genetics, or related field.
Strong background in wet lab techniques, with an emphasis on cell culture techniques. Previous work with mice is an asset.
Ability to manage all aspects of a project, from experimental design to data interpretation and assembly of manuscripts.
Stong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one's own.
Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
The expected salary for this position is $60,000 to $70,000 per annum. The Faculty of Medicine is committed to offering equitable and competitive salaries, commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
