A grant-funded Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available at UBC Vancouver for 1 year with the possibility of an extension, to join a project focused on oral health equity and access to care in British Columbia, with a specific emphasis on rural, remote, and underserved communities. The successful candidate will support mixed-methods research, community engagement, and build sustainable academic-community partnerships, as well as support vulnerable populations and those in rural and remote areas. This position is ideal for a candidate committed to health equity, community-engaged scholarship, and applied research that benefits diverse and underserved populations. This position requires expertise in higher/health education specifically pertaining to the areas of curriculum, policy measurement, and/or learning. Strong knowledge and skills in statistical analysis are preferred.
The successful candidate must possess:
A doctorate degree (PhD).
Evidence of translational work in health and/or education; if publication(s) were in oral health equity and access, it would be a plus.
Ability to engage with community and stakeholder partners, including rural/remote clinics, Indigenous communities, and provincial organizations.
Knowledge of various research methods (qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research) commonly used in social science research.
Ability to arrange and present data analysis results to both health science and education communities.
Background knowledge or experience in artificial intelligence (AI) and/or machine learning.
Ability to support grant applications and ongoing research project development as well as prepare manuscripts, policy briefs, technical reports, and conference presentations.
Ability to supervise undergraduate and/or graduate students.
Good interpersonal skills with experience in setting and achieving goals, both alone and in a team environment.
It will be highly desirable if the candidate has a PhD in Public Health, Health Services Research, Dental Public Health, Health Science Education, or Social/Behavioral Sciences. Candidates who also have experience in oral health, rural health, Indigenous health, or community-based research; knowledge of BC's health systems or social determinants of health; and experience with analytical tools such as NVivo, R, SPSS, or equivalent are preferred.
