Post Sentence Support Worker

Job Description

The Post Sentence Support Worker is responsible for:

Initiate post sentence programming for adults and youth (first Nation and non-First Nation clientele)

Screening, intake, assessment, mediation, referral to other agencies, and or services (if applicable), and follow up

Increase community awareness of BTC Justice programs and services.

o Victim-Offender Mediation, with promoting victim engagement.

o Accountability hearing

o Community Justice Forum/Family Group Conference

o Healing/Talking Circle

o Court Worker Program

Offer culturally appropriate post sentence related services, support and education.

Support clients to successfully complete and implement the recommendations/healing plans included in their post sentence/Gladue reports.

Support individuals in reintegration into the community.

Support clients, families and community members with healing supports in circumstances where the post sentence/Gladue report writing brings up past trauma.

Assistance with obtaining proof of identity.

Complete monthly reports.

Attend monthly meetings.

Data entry for clients.

All duties assigned by the Alternative Measures- Justice Coordinator and or Executive Director.

Specific Results or Outcomes:



Post sentence supports is the provision of supports at the post-sentence stage to assist individuals in successfully completing the recommendations/healing plans included in their post sentence/Gladue reports and in meeting the terms of their sentence. The post sentence supports will also directly support offenders in meeting the terms of their sentence and staying out of the prison system, as well as support them in addressing root causes of their offending and reduce their risk of reoffending.

Results and outcomes will be reported weekly to the Alternative Measures - Justice Coordinator for submission BTC Leadership for review and direction.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.58-$24.54 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
