Continuing our growth trajectory from startup days, EarthLabs is excited to expand its team and is currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Post-Production Assistant to join us.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a
Post-Production Assistant
, you will support our video production team by managing, organizing, and preparing media assets for editing and distribution. You will work closely with the Head of Production and editors to ensure a smooth workflow - from ingesting footage and synching clips to exporting final videos and uploading them to platforms. This highly collaborative role requires strong technical proficiency, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to support the post-production process, while offering opportunities to develop skills and grow within a creative environment.
This is a permanent, in-office position based in Toronto, Ontario.
WE WILL TRUST YOU TO... (KEY RESPONSIBILITIES)
Support Post-Production Workflow:
Handle media ingestion, multi-clip, syncing, backups, transcoding (including proxy file creation), and basic organizational clerical tasks.
Assist Editors:
Provide direct support to video editors with stock footage searches, AI voiceovers, and music sourcing; prepare project timelines by loading assets and elements for efficient editing starts.
Prepare Content for Delivery:
Output rough cuts and prepare video files for delivery, including colour correction and audio mixing coordination when the editor is unavailable.
Quality Control:
Review contents for technical accuracy, errors, consistency, adherence to brand standards, and overall quality prior to publishing.
Captioning:
Generate, proofread, and ensure accuracy in captions; manage SRT files and upload to platforms as required (e.g. YouTube, LinkedIn).
Content Management:
Maintain an organized media library, properly tagging and archiving assets for each retrieval.
Platform Delivery:
Manage uploads and ensure final deliverables meet platform specifications.
Stay Updated:
Stay current with post-production tools, workflow optimizations, and emerging media trends.
Ad Hoc Tasks:
Undertake additional ad hoc assignments and duties as assigned
YOU WILL NEED TO BE/BRING... (QUALIFICATIONS)
Experience:
2+ years of proven experience in video post-production, ideally in a fast-paced digital media or broadcast environment.
Education:
Post-secondary in media production, communications or a related field is an asset.
Software Proficiency:
Strong knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Media Encoder, YouTube Studio; working knowledge of After Effects is an asset.
Technical Skills:
Solid understanding of video formats, codecs, transcoding, and file management.
Attention to Detail:
Keen eye for technical precision and quality assurance.
Soft Skills:
Strong time management, organizational skills, interpersonal and communication skills to effectively manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
