About Zaag'idiwin Naaknigewin
Zaag'idiwin is a newly established organization dedicated to promoting the wellbeing of Saugeen First Nation children and families and building capacity to operationalize Saugeen's child wellbeing law, Zaag'idiwin. Saugeen children and families are at the core of who we are - they are our most valuable resources. We believe it is our collective responsibility as Saugeen to care for one another.
Position Summary
The Post Majority Worker provides culturally grounded support, advocacy, and guidance to youth transitioning out of care and entering adulthood. This role helps youth aged 18-26 build the skills, confidence, and connections necessary to achieve independence while maintaining strong ties to their community, culture, and identity. The Worker ensures youth have access to housing, education, employment, life skills, and wellness supports in a holistic and respectful way.
Key Responsibilities
Provide case management, mentorship, and advocacy for post majority youth.
Develop individualized transition and life plans that reflect each youth's strengths, goals, and needs.
Support access to safe housing, educational opportunities, employment, and training programs.
Connect youth with community and cultural resources, including Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and traditional teachings.
Facilitate workshops and group sessions on life skills (financial literacy, cooking, self-care, etc.).
Assist youth in navigating government, health, and social services.
Promote and support youth participation in cultural identity development, ceremonies, and land-based healing.
Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting in accordance with Zaag'idiwin policy and law.
Collaborate with internal teams, community partners, and families to provide wraparound support.
Participate in organizational training, team meetings, and community events.
Other related duties as assigned to support the operational success of Zaag'idiwin Child and Family Services.
Qualifications
Diploma or degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Work, Indigenous Studies, or a related field. (CYW designation considered an asset.)
Minimum 2 years of experience working with youth or young adults, preferably in a First Nation context.
Knowledge of Saugeen First Nation culture, traditions, language, and community resources.
Strong understanding of issues affecting Indigenous youth, including intergenerational trauma, identity, and systemic barriers.
Demonstrated skills in case management, mentorship, and advocacy.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and case management software.
Must provide a current CPIC and Vulnerable Sector Check.
Valid Class G driver's license and reliable vehicle.
