Posiition summary

The Departments of Medical Genetics and Psychiatry at the University of Alberta have an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the area of genomic studies in psychiatry. The successful candidate will work with an interdisciplinary research team to carry out genomic studies in psychiatry including a genomewide association study (GWAS).

Duties

  • Conducting phenotypic and genotypic quality control
  • Running genome-wide association analysis of problematic sexual behaviour and related phenotypes
  • Conducting gene-environment interaction analyses in problematic sexual behaviour and related phenotypes and/or acting as a resource to assist graduate students with their running of these
  • Drafting of manuscripts for publication, material for presentation, funder reports, and grant applications
  • Other related duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
  • Relevant doctoral degree (Psychiatric genomics or equivalent)
  • Training in statistical genetics
  • A high standard of communication (oral and written)
  • Interpersonal skills with creative problem-solving and dedication to tasks
  • Strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in genome-wide association analysis with relevant techniques such as admixture analysis
  • A strong track record of refereed journal publications
