Login to your McGill Workday account and apply to this posting using the Find Jobs report (type Find Jobs in the search bar).Hybrid on-site presence requiredMontreal, CanadaSummary:Reporting to the Director, IT Communications, Change Management and Training, and working closely with Business Stakeholders, IT Project Managers, IT Managers, and IT Technical teams, is responsible for implementing, evolving, maintaining, and supporting IT services to meet the needs of the services in the portfolio, and is accountable for the suitability, reliability, stability, and availability of those services. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to meet schedules and goals. Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of University policies. Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect the organization.Duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall management of a team of analysts and web developers.
  • Act as single point of contact for the various Business and IT Stakeholders for the scheduling, planning, and delivery of the activities under own responsibilities.
  • Advise and support Business Stakeholders in the implementation and evolution of IT Services in the portfolio and ensure the submitted business need requests are evaluated and prioritized.
  • Prepare and provide request status updates to Business Stakeholders through regular communication and Business Coordination Committees and/or Advisory Groups
  • Ensure systems requirements are captured and solutions designed and developed to meet business requirements, in respect to the established architecture.
  • Ensure quality control is performed at each step of the Software Delivery Life Cycle
  • Manage Supplier relationships for third party software/services.
  • Implement best practices and methodologies and ensure the team stays abreast of new web-related technologies.
  • Establish, promote, support, and reinforce the use of standards to ensure the quality, suitability, reliability, stability and availability of IT Services under own responsibility is maintained.
  • Stay abreast overall on agile development and delivery best practices to advise IT management on possible strategic direction.
  • Manage resource allocation: material and financial and establish the unit budget with Director.
  • Coach employees to maintain quality standards.
  • Manage with the Director decisions on hiring and discipline and performance management.
  • Perform annual Performance Dialogue for supervisors; provide coaching and motivation to direct reports and establish training and development plans. Determine performance ratings for teams.
  • Develop overall department objectives with the Director.
  • Defines roles and responsibilities for the unit with the Director.
  • Establish and manage deadlines.
  • Exercise leadership in influencing others in attaining the established objectives.
  • Oversee the implementation of short- and long-term plans related to IT management.
  • Work with clients to assess the degree to which IT investments are achieving their business objectives.
  • Provide consulting expertise to the University community on a wide range of complex IT issues.
  • Support and advise the University community on introduction of new technology.
  • Review productivity reports and evaluate process efficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Foster and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and clients.
Requirements:Education: Undergraduate DegreeExperience: Five (5) years\xe2\x80\x99 related experienceSkills and Expertise (Web Publication Services):
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams, and to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, public-speaking, writing, documentation, and planning skills.
  • Collaborative team player with strong focus on delivering results to meet the business needs.
  • Extensive functional knowledge of the strategic purpose and value of Web Publishing services
  • Proven-track record in the implementation, development and support of web publishing systems and web-application systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of current web technologies and standards, particularly accessibility and usability
  • Demonstrated experience with Agile methodologies (particularly SCRUM, and managing product backlogs)
  • Familiarity and knowledge of Drupal: understanding of Drupal core functionality, and of the community-contributed module approach.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills \xe2\x80\x93 ability to perform root/cause analysis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of functional analysis and information structures - ability to understand and clarify business needs formulated by requesters and stakeholders.
  • Experience in working with third-party software and third-party suppliers.
  • Experience with WordPress is considered a plus.
  • Knowledge of French and English. McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of the higher education sector is an asset
