One of our Banking Clients is looking for a Portfolio Associate (Investment mgt., CSC, CFA)
Length: 6-month contract with a strong possibility of an extension or full-time employment
Location: Toronto, ON - Hybrid (2 days in office)
Hours: Must be available to work between the hours of: 8:00am - 4:30pmROLE MANDATE:
The Portfolio Management Group (PMG) is responsible for supporting Private Banking Canada\'s Investment Counselors (ICs) with the effective implementation, construction and monitoring of client investment accounts which are to be in line with bank\'s Privates Investment Counsel (BPIC)\'s philosophy, strategies and mandates. The Portfolio Associate, PMG supports the PMG Managers in the effective implementation, construction, and monitoring of client investment accounts. The Portfolio Associate must exhibit strong investment management, communications and team building skills.DAY-TO-DAY PREVIEW:

  • Processing custom models
  • Working in portfolio management system
  • Supporting portfolio proposals for investments councilors
  • Helping senior members with trading activities such as GICs
  • Communication reconciliation work
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Investment & Relationship Management
  • Has a good level of investment management understanding and proficiency.
  • Proactively assists the PMG Managers in the effective implementation, construction and monitoring of client accounts.
  • Assists PMG Managers with standard & custom spreadsheets and reports. This includes portfolio summaries, asset allocation targets, bond analysis reports, maturity schedules, sector analysis and income projections.
  • Prepare and/or assist VP & National Director, Investment Platform and Head, Investment Management, with regular communications to the ICs and other stakeholders.
  • Proactively liaises with the trading desk to enhance synergies.
  • Support PMG Managers with the implementation of block trades for clients (per policy changes) relative to client constraints.
  • Assist PMG Managers with duration and asset allocation analysis against model portfolios.
  • Assist PMG Managers in maintaining low portfolio variability and in alignment with policy models.
2. Leadership & Team Effectiveness

  • Provides insight and shares expertise with team members in regard to financial markets, economic developments and investment management.
  • Has a strong level of understanding of the compliance policies and procedures relating to private client money management and ensures that existing risk management procedures and controls are being followed.
  • Must be willing to take initiative, is entrepreneurial and achievement orientated.
3. Project Management
  • Assist, as subject matter experts, with ad-hoc projects in support of Private Wealth Canada initiatives, along with VP & National Director, Investment Platform and Head, Investment Management.
4. Risk Management & Control
  • Protect the Bank\'s assets by ensuring proper adherence to all aspects of First Principles, Our Code of Conduct, Ethics, and compliance policies and procedures relating to private client money management
MUST HAVE SKILLS:
  • University Degree - ideally in Business, Finance
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in the investment and/or financial services industry either in a similar role or within the Investment Research, Investment Banking, or Portfolio Management divisions.
  • Very good investment management knowledge and skills.
  • Very good client service, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Very good relationship management skills.
  • A solid understanding of the financial markets and genuine interest in economics, with the ability to communicate the impact of financial conditions succinctly.
  • Very good financial analysis knowledge and familiarity with taxation issues.
  • Ability to work within a compliance framework.
  • Strong attention to detail, organized, able to work independently, ability to multitask and take initiative.
  • Displays high energy and self-confidence.
  • Strong computer skills (e.g. MS Office)
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS:
  • CFA, Level 1 preferred (or expressed interest in this designation)
  • CSC or other financial certifications
  • Exposure to Charles River systems (CRIMS & CRA), FIS Global Plus, Bloomberg and Microsoft Office Suite would be an asset.
