Land Programs is a regulator with the Office of Service Nova Scotia who are responsible for ensuring compliance with the regulations and other legislation pertaining to land. Creating and implementing enhancements to our databases. Auditing processes in relation to our obligations to the NS Bar Society. Mitigating risk of loss to an owner, interest holder or the province in light of compensation provisions that are contained in the Land Registration Act.
About Our Opportunity
Reports to the Deputy Registrar of Land Titles - Registry, the Registry Policy Coordinator provides expert advise on improvements to legislation and regulations with regards to the Land Programs registry functions. Develops, implements and monitors policies, program protocols, and consults on operational procedures with Land Titles, Registry of Deeds and registry program. The coordinator is the principal point of contact for escalated issues from Citizen Services and external clients. Assesses, evaluates, researches and resolves complex issues escalated from staff, stakeholders and other land registry users. This position works closely with the Mapping Policy Coordinator to ensure that all policies, acceptance criteria and standards are met, conducts registry audits to identify risk and training needs. The incumbent will maintain a close working relationship with other government officials and professional associations, provide training and presentations.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor\'s degree plus 5 years related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. An extensive knowledge of programs, policies, procedures and legislative requirements of the Land Programs particularly with respect to the registry components of the Land Titles and Registry of Deeds is required. Knowledge of other legislation as it relates to registry functions is required. Must have the ability to work under pressure and to met deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to act as a project manager or team leader is required. Strong communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to interact with stakeholders, staff, officials from various levels of government and the private sector are required.
Special Statement
This position is located in Halifax, but the successful candidate could potentially work from a remote Service Nova Scotia office.

This is a TERM employment opportunity with anticipated end date of January 31, 2025. The appointment status (\'term\', \'temporary\' or \'casual\') is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.
