It is responsible for developing Board policy as well as oversees all government relations, media communications, issue management, corporate and social responsibility, FOIP, and strategic communications.

JOB SUMMARY

Do you thrive working under pressure? If so, we have an 18 month temporary position for you! The Policy and Public Affairs Division is looking for a skilled and energetic individual to join our team in the Policy and Program Development Branch.

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Policy, this position is responsible for creating and updating AGLC\'s Corporate policies. The incumbent monitors, analyzes and shares information on trends and developments in public policy, best practices and evidence-based policy research with a focus on the areas of corporate policy. The incumbent is required to identify and respond to corporate policy questions relative to divisional, organizational and government goals and strategies, as well as prepare evidence-based documents. In conjunction with these projects, this position prepares policy handbooks, briefings and reports, retailer agreements and draft responses to ministerial, Board, CEO and other correspondence.

To be successful in this position you must possess excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present information in a clear, concise and accurate manner and communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences, including AGLC staff, stakeholders and cross-jurisdictional representatives. Negotiation and conflict management skills are also needed in dealing with internal staff and industry stakeholders to reach consensus on proposed policy direction. Strong research and analytical skills are essential, with demonstrated experience with the public policy cycle. In-depth knowledge of AGLC processes and policies related to Corporate Policy as well as matters outside of the existing policy, the incumbent will consult with areas concerned and make recommendations to the Manager, Corporate Policy.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • A University Degree in business administration, public policy or a related field and a minimum of two (2) years\' experience in a public policy, research or legislative environment analyzing complex information or data on a wide variety of issues is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of planning processes and methodology, policy analysis and program development and management are needed.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint) is also necessary.
  • Excellent writing skills is an essential qualification for this position.
  • Strong research & analytical skills and demonstrated experience with the public policy cycle.
