The Police Services Watch Support Supervisor is responsible for supervising staff, support general duty watches, assist with: processing complaints from the general public, obtaining witness statements, processing exhibits and collecting court ordered DNA samples. The position will provide support and coverage to the Police Services supervisory team.Duties
1. Provide assistance to general duty RCMP* members: *

• Manage and process curfew checks, DNA orders and the sex offender registry
• Collect and analyze video recordings and communicate real time information at watch briefings
• Process complaints from the general public and obtain statements
• Complete files that do not require police attendance

2. Creates and develops business processes:

• Create and develop business practices, workflow and unit supplements
• Develop and implement work procedures for Police Services Watch Support Officers and Police Services Watch Clerks

3. Manage human resources, provide leadership and committee involvement:

• Direct reports: 12 full-time employees
• Develop, coach, inspire, hire, assess, discipline and reward employees. Lead and problem solve
• Scheduling, deployment of employees
• Committee representative

4. Manage budget:

• Capital budget: Contributory - yearly dependent up to $100,000
• Operating budget: Contributory
• Responsibility: Primary / Contributory - Shared
• Final spending authority: Police Services Manager

Qualifications
Knowledge:
This position requires experience (7+ years) in a policing environment, supervisory experience and/or post secondary education in management. This position requires extensive knowledge in researching and interpreting RCMP policy. Knowledge and practical experience in uniform crime reporting (UCR), Canadian Centre for Justice Statistics (CCJS), RCMP and Provincial database systems.Skills & Abilities:
The Police Services Watch Support Supervisor will have strong written and verbal communication skills; well developed research, analytical and problem solving skills; excellent consultation, negotiation and deescalating abilities; conflict resolution, leadership, innovative thinking, file management and sound computer skills. Must have a valid class 5 drivers license. Must be able to obtain and maintain an RCMP Security Clearance and Provincial Special Constable Status.Competencies:
