OPPORTUNITY
Pals Geomatics Corp. is looking for an ambitious individual who is seeking a Geomatics Technologist position in a growing Edmonton Land Surveying Company.
Reporting to the respective Department Manager in their Division, the Geomatics Technologist will be responsible for point cloud and reality-capture data processing, extraction, quality control, and project coordination. At Pals Geomatics you will work with our in-house tools and processes to ensure efficient, accurate delivery of point cloud-derived survey and drafting products, supporting a variety of municipal, construction, land development, and resource projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Interpret field notes and perform calculations where required to support point cloud deliverables.
Process, register, and manage point cloud datasets from drone (UAS) surveys and terrestrial laser scanning.
Extract and classify specific points, features, and break lines from point clouds for drafting technicians to utilize in plan production and 3D surface/model development.
Perform quality control checks on point cloud outputs and derived survey/drafting products to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to project requirements.
Interpret Land Titles information and construction and engineering plans to support data extraction, modeling, and survey deliverables.
Work with the drafting technicians to ensure product accuracy and consistency, including clear communication of assumptions, tolerances, and any data limitations.
Monitor current projects and communicate timeline changes and new information to the project managers; track project changes and adjust schedules as needed.
Prepare field crew work requisitions based on project manager requirements.
Coordinate project scheduling with project managers.
Be engaged with and proactively advance the Pals Health and Safety program.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a
minimum of 3 years experience
in plan checking, calculating and/or project coordination.
Proficiency with software applications including DJI software, Trimble Business Centre, Autodesk Civil 3D and MS Office Programs.
Previous experience in land development survey projects is an asset, as well as previous field experience.
Certificate in Survey, Construction, or Civil Technology from a recognized Technical Institute or University is an asset.
