Eit Modeling Technologist

Burnaby, BC, CA, Canada

Job Description

EIT MODELING TECHNOLOGIST

Build the Future of Telecom Infrastructure with 3D Point Cloud Technology and Structural Engineering!

Why this Role

Encepta is growing! We're building a cutting-edge team to transform 3D point cloud data into precision-engineered pole loading models for telecom infrastructure across Canada. This role sits at the intersection of geomatics and structural engineering--where point cloud processing meets real-world design challenges.

You'll work with advanced tools like Engineering Analysis Software to perform structural analysis and modeling, while leveraging your expertise to process and clean 3D point cloud data. Your work will directly support outside plant telecommunications design projects, ensuring that every structure attribute is accurately captured and analyzed.

If you're an analytical problem-solver with experience in structural and design work, passionate about structural engineering software, and enjoy working with geomatics, maps, 3D data, and structured datasets, this role is for you!

What You'll Be Responsible For

Reporting to our Manager, Operations, you will perform structural analysis and pole loading design for telecom infrastructure projects. Working closely with fielding teams, GIS specialists, and engineering partners, your responsibilities will include:

Perform outside plant telecommunications structural analysis and design using Engineering Analysis Software

Process and clean 3D point cloud feature extraction data, normalize attributes, resolve geometry issues, and execute standard scripts and models in ArcGIS Pro

Build and analyze pole loading models, verify structure attributes, and apply standard load cases and client settings

Perform data collection, alterations, modeling and analysis for various client requirements, ensuring compliance with industry specifications and standards

Identify missing or inconsistent data, coordinate with fielding and design teams to enhance processes, document data anomalies, and recommend process improvements

What Success Looks Like

Within your first 12-18 months, you'll be:

Performing structural analysis and pole loading design using Engineering Analysis Software with high accuracy and consistency

Processing and cleaning 3D point cloud data in GIS tools, building quality base models with verified structure attributes

Applying standard load cases and client settings while ensuring compliance with industry specifications and standards

Identifying and resolving data inconsistencies, geometry issues, and missing attributes while coordinating effectively with fielding and design teams

Documenting anomalies and contributing process improvements as our beta workflows evolve into production-ready systems

What We're Looking For

Technical Proficiency: 1-5+ years of hands-on experience in structural analysis and design for civil, utility, or telecom projects; experience with pole loading software (SpidaCalc, IKE Office, or QuickPole) and working with structured 3D point cloud data is an asset

Educational Background: Diploma or degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with E.I.T. registration required; must maintain designation in good standing with practicing province(s)

Engineering Analysis Tools: Experience with Nonlinear FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and pole loading analysis software (SpidaCalc or similar); proficiency in AutoCAD for 2-D drafting to support designs

Data Processing & Problem-Solving: Ability to work with 3D point cloud data across GIS platforms and engineering software, perform data collection and modeling for various client requirements, identify data inconsistencies and geometry issues, and apply industry specifications and standards

Adaptability & Learning: Openness to working in a beta, rapidly evolving process; comfort with long stretches of focused screen work, picking up new technical tools as needed, and exposure to various design methods such as GPON, FTTx, Civil, Copper, Pole Lines, and other Outside Plant Design types

What's In It for YOU?

We know that when you grow, we grow. That's why we offer more than just a job, we offer a launchpad for your career:

Real impact: help expand critical infrastructure that connects communities across Canada Career growth: move from field specialist to project specialist Hybrid work model: flexibility to work remotely, in-office, and on-site as needed Competitive compensation: including performance incentives Comprehensive benefits: extended health benefits (dental & HSA), RRSP matching, cellphone allowance, learning budget, and wellness support Learning support: access to certifications, training, and a team that invests in your development Collaborative, inclusive culture: we value your voice, your safety, and your contribution
