About our Organization:
Threshold School of Building is a registered charity based in Hamilton, dedicated to hands-on learning, sustainable building, and community development. Since our founding in 2001, we've been helping people gain practical skills, confidence, and meaningful opportunities in the construction trades.
Our mission is to create a welcoming and supportive learning environment where everyone can explore the trades, discover their potential, and develop a lifelong passion for good building. Through our programs, participants learn essential construction skills and then put them into practice by working on community and affordable housing projects that make a real difference in people's lives.
At Threshold, we believe in building more than structures -- we're building people, connections, and communities.
What We Do
Our work happens through three main programs:
Ready To Work (RTW)

General Home Maintenance (GHM)
- A friendly, affordable evening program open to everyone. We teach practical home repair and maintenance skills so people can take care of their own homes with confidence.
Threshold Construction
- Our social enterprise that employs RTW graduates to build custom decks, fences, and sheds. It's a win-win: clients receive high-quality craftsmanship, and our graduates gain meaningful work experience and income.
