Scope
Reporting to the Plumbing Section Manager, this position is responsible for plumbing site reviews and regulatory work, including supervision and direction of others, and in checking all plumbing and on-site requirements for compliance with relevant codes, bylaws and regulations.
Responsibilities
Assist in directing operations of plumbing site reviews.
Assist in the supervision, training, motivation, and evaluation of Plumbing Officials.
Assist in the workload allocation of daily plumbing site reviews by Plumbing Officials.
Carry out site reviews for all types of plumbing installations at various stages of building construction as required for substantial compliance to applicable codes, bylaws, codes, and regulations.
Assist the Plumbing Manager in conducting review of site review workloads, plumbing permits issuance, and related procedures and programs.
Coordinate the issuance of plumbing permits and the provision of plumbing site reviews with other City Departments and Sections.
Assist Plumbing Officials, Building Officials and other City Staff in preparation and review of group site reviews, reports and other correspondence.
Assist in conflict resolution between Plumbing Officials and plumbing contractor/building contractors/consultants/owners.
Provide technical advice, assistance, interpretation and information to the public, contractors, owners, architects and professional engineers on plumbing-related matters.
Other job-related duties as required.
Qualifications
Successful completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Apprenticeship in the plumbing trade.
Minimum 5-years experience as a journeyman plumber in a supervisory capacity or as a plumbing contractor, or 3-years experience as a Municipal or City Plumbing Inspector.
Certificate of Qualification for the Province of B.C. as a Plumber or equivalent.
BOABC Level 2 Plumbing Inspector Certification.
Valid and unrestricted driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for business purposes.
Cross Connection Control Certification is considered an asset.
This position requires walking, lifting, use of ladders, physical labour, and may be outdoor in all weather conditions.
