About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Plumbing/HVAC Estimator who will also manage a select group of small residential and light construction projects. This role is ideal for someone who is technically strong in estimating, collaborative, and comfortable taking ownership of smaller-scale projects from start to finish.

Your primary focus will be estimating--both your own work and estimates that consistently support the broader team. You will also complete prequalification packages for general contractors, builders, and clients. In addition, you will manage small projects to ensure timelines, quality, budgets, and profitability targets are met.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating (Primary Function)

Review drawings, specifications, and site conditions to develop accurate takeoffs and labor estimates Prepare detailed proposals, scopes of work, and cost breakdowns Consistently support the team with estimating work to maintain efficiency and accuracy Complete prequalification (prequal) packages including company info, safety documentation, and past project details Source competitive pricing and identify value-engineering opportunities

Small Project Management (Secondary Function)

Manage small-scale plumbing and HVAC projects from award to closeout Take full responsibility for the profitability of assigned projects, including monitoring costs and budget targets Coordinate field crews, subcontractors, inspectors, and suppliers Oversee jobsite safety, quality standards, and compliance with specifications Communicate clearly with homeowners, builders, and internal teams

Communication & Documentation

Act as a reliable point of contact for clients, vendors, and team members Maintain accurate documentation including schedules, change orders, purchase orders, and progress reports Provide consistent communication and updates throughout both estimating and project execution stages

Qualifications

Mandatory HVAC and/or plumbing estimating experience (residential, construction, or light commercial), having

both

is strong asset. Experience managing small projects with financial accountability Experience preparing prequalification (prequal) packages is an asset Strong understanding of mechanical systems, building codes, drawings, and construction sequencing Proficiency with estimating and project management software Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Valid driver's license required
