Job Overview:
As a Plumbing Apprentice, you will assist licensed plumbers in installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This role provides hands-on experience and training under the supervision of certified plumbers, with a goal to progress towards becoming a journeyman plumber through formal apprenticeship programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in Installation and Repairs:
+ Help install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems (pipes, fittings, water heaters, fixtures, etc.).
+ Assist with interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout of plumbing systems. Material Handling:
+ Transport tools, materials, and equipment to job sites.
+ Maintain clean and organized workspaces and storage areas. Fixture Installation:
+ Assist in installing sinks, faucets, toilets, bathtubs, showers, and other plumbing fixtures.
+ Learn and apply proper techniques for sealing, fastening, and connecting various pipes and fittings. Leak Detection and Troubleshooting:
+ Assist in identifying and repairing leaks, blockages, and malfunctions in plumbing systems.
+ Perform pressure tests, diagnostics, and basic troubleshooting tasks. Compliance and Safety:
+ Follow safety protocols and building codes as outlined by Ontario and municipal regulations.
+ Assist with ensuring all installations meet Ontario Plumbing Code standards. On-the-Job Learning:
+ Participate in formal and informal training programs.
+ Gain knowledge of plumbing tools, techniques, materials, and systems. Customer Service:
+ Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and co-workers.
+ Assist with providing accurate time estimates for plumbing work and projects.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Previous experience in construction or manual labor is an asset but not required.
Skills:
+ Good manual dexterity and physical stamina.
+ Basic knowledge of tools and machinery.
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints is a plus. Certifications: Enrollment in a recognized plumbing apprenticeship program or willingness to enroll.
Driver's License: Valid G-class driver's license in Ontario.
Other: Must be able to lift heavy materials, work in various weather conditions, and stand for long periods.
Additional Notes:
Working Hours: Full-time, 44 hours per week; may include weekends or overtime depending on project timelines.
