About Us:
Pacific Vocational College (PVC) provides superior quality instructor led apprenticeship training. We offer Plumbing, Sprinkler Fitting, and Gas Fitting red seal programs. We have been training apprentices for 30 plus years and over that time we have adapted and innovated to ensure we meet our apprentices training requirements. We deliver training through PVC's eLearning Portal with a method we developed called "Distance Live". This allows PVC to deliver training in an extremely effective manor to a variety of learners across our province and country.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and motivated Plumbing and Gas Fitting Instructor to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both residential, institutional, and commercial plumbing and gas fitting, coupled with a commitment to sharing their expertise with aspiring tradespeople. This role involves delivering theoretical and practical instruction, mentoring students, and contributing to the development of our curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
? Deliver high-quality theoretical and practical instruction in all aspects of plumbing and gas fitting.
? Develop, prepare, and update course materials, lesson plans, and teaching aids.
? Create and administer practical assignments, lab exercises, and exams to assess student comprehension and skill development.
? Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students, fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment.
? Ensure a safe learning environment in virtual classroom and shop, enforcing safety protocols and proper tool usage.
? Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and progress reports.
? Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and changes in plumbing and gas fitting codes and regulations.
? Participate in curriculum development and review.
? Collaborate with other PVC team members to enhance our programs and provide a welcoming student environment.
? Mentor students on career paths, professionalism, and industry expectations.
Qualifications:
? Red Seal Certification in Plumbing
? Gasfitter Certification (Class B), Red Seal Certification required by 2027
? Minimum of 3 years of recent, practical experience as a certified Plumber and Gasfitter in residential, commercial, and/or institutional settings.
? Demonstrated knowledge of all relevant plumbing and gas fitting codes and regulations (National Plumbing Code of Canada, CSA B149.1 Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code).
? Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
? Strong organizational and time management abilities.
? Reasonable understanding of computer systems.
? Ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor students from diverse backgrounds.

Assets (Preferred Qualifications):
? Course design and implementation
? Adult education certification or related training experience
? Experience with learning management systems (LMS) such as Moodle, Canvas, or Blackboard.
? Specialized certifications (e.g., Cross Connection Control, Hydronic Heating).
