This position is at the L07 level with an hourly pay range of $38.37 - $48.55

Reporting to the Manager of Facilities and Security Services the Plumber performs a wide variety of plumbing and mechanical installations and related maintenance functions; installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains pipes, fixtures, plumbing equipment for water distribution and waste water disposal. Certifies that maintenance of the fire sprinkler and suppression systems is to Standards Council of Canada; installs, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains backflows, check valves, heating, cooling, steam or glycol systems and related controls according to established standards and codes. Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains a wide variety of plumbing for sewage, water, heating pumps, compressors, medical gases, and Heating, Ventilating, and Air Condition (HVAC) systems to established standards and codes. Troubleshoots and repairs boilers, pumps, hot water tanks, fixtures, air handling units, dearators and condensate tanks and lines.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required :
Knowledge of the theories and practices of the plumbing trade and related electronics
Knowledge of plumbing tools, equipment and their application
Knowledge of applicable Standards, Codes, and Acts
Knowledge of fire suppression systems
Knowledge of building mechanical systems
Knowledge of fuel oil systems
Knowledge of HVAC controls
Basic knowledge of general maintenance methods and techniques
Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics
Ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions of test results and other data
Ability to detect and repair problems associated with plumbing systems
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Strong customer service orientation
Cross cultural awareness
The successful candidate will have Journeyman Plumbing Ticket with Interprovincial Seal. 2-3 year work experience in mechanical maintenance and repair along with experience performing general basic maintenance activities. A Valid Yukon Class 5 Drivers License with a Clean Driving Abstract. Knowledge of fire alarm and suppression, sprinkler systems and should have Class B Gassfitter ticket. Certification in WHMIS and Backflow Assembly Tester. Knowledge of basic building construction techniques is desired.
