with proven leadership skills? We're looking for a highly organized and safety-focused
Plating Team Lead
to join our Applications Department. In this critical role, you will direct and oversee all
chrome and electroless nickel plating
operations, ensuring top-tier quality, efficiency, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities (Primary Accountability)
The Plating Team Lead is responsible for organizing, directing, and overseeing the production within the chrome plating and electroless nickel plating departments.
Production Oversight:
Coordinate the day-to-day plating operational requirements and perform hands-on chrome and electroless nickel plating to maintain production levels.
Team Leadership:
Supervise the plating team, providing training and focusing on performance and safety compliance.
Technical & Quality Assurance:
Maintain the plating tanks, analyze plating solutions, and ensure all documentation, records, and processes adhere to specifications and national standards.
Plating Operations:
Perform production chrome and electroless nickel plating to ensure production levels are achieved.
Safety & Compliance:
Direct strict adherence to all safety and environmental rules and regulations.
Detailed Position Functions
Analyze plating solutions to verify conformance to specifications and regulations.
Schedule plating of compatible parts to
maximize tank utilization
and achieve production goals set with the Production Supervisor.
Inspect parts
before and after
the plating process to identify defects and enforce quality guidelines.
Ensure all documentation, records, test results, and processes are up to date and readily available for inspection.
Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine optimal processing methods and sequences.
Train and supervise
all plating employees in accordance with company policies and procedures, focusing on performance and safety
Perform regular tank maintenance
, including assembling and disassembling the tank and its contents (heating, cooling, probes, acid, anodes, exhaust, and liners).
Order and maintain plating supplies, ensuring all equipment and plating areas are clean and organized.
Revise current processes and ensure testing is conducted according to standard and national practices.
Report all incidents (injuries, spills, property damage, near misses) to appropriate management personnel.
Qualifications & Experience Requirements
Required:
Minimum of
5 years of experience
in electrodeposited plating and a solid understanding of plating processes.
Minimum of
2 years of experience
with the
hard-chrome plating
process.
Minimum of
2 years of experience as a lead or supervisor
.
Strong understanding of electrodeposited plating using
A/C rectifiers
.
Exceptional attention to detail and solid organizational skills.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific/technical journals and legal documents related to plating.
Must be willing to work shift work (day/night) and overtime.
Assets:
Bachelor's degree
in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
Ability to effectively present information to top management.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Rate:
Between
$31.00 to $38.00 CAD per hour
. Hourly rates are determined by role, level, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
