The Opportunity: Plant Operator Permanent, Full-Time bargaining unit position, based out of Whitehorse, Yukon. Who we are: Yukon Energy is the main generator and transmitter of electrical energy in the territory. Our plant facilities are on the Traditional Territory of Yukon First Nations. There are 14 First Nations in the territory, and we are proud to work within these Traditional Territories in all our business operations. What will you do: Participates as a member of the Plant Operators team and is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the electrical generating units, plants and their respective auxiliary equipment. Works as the operating authority when on duty. What you need to succeed:
Knowledge at the grade 12 level plus some vocational training in mechanical maintenance and operation of heavy equipment and several years of previous related work experience.
Strong client service orientation.
Knowledge of Windows based computer software applications.
A proven track record and commitment to safe procedures and encouraging a safe work environment.
A valid Yukon class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.
A valid First Aid certificate.
Ability to work in a team and cross-cultural environment.
Preference will be given to candidates with a 4th class power engineering ticket or relevant trade certifications
Ability to lift and move large and heavy items (up to 50lbs)
