With facilities in Dieppe, New Brunswick; Toronto, Ontario; Macon, Georgia; and Fort Edward, New York, the company produces high-quality parent rolls and a range of consumer tissue products. Currently, Irving Tissue manufactures products under the Majesta and Royale brands in Canada and the Scotties brand in the United States.Irving Tissue, part of the J.D. Since 1957, JDI has planted 1.1 billion trees and earned recognition as a Carbon Neutral Forest Supply Chain.Meridia is happy to partner with Irving Tissue, in their search for a Plant Manager to join their team in Dieppe, New Brunswick.Role DescriptionReporting directly to the Vice President of Manufacturing, the Plant Manager is responsible for leading continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives, providing direction and supervision to ensure day-to-day operations ensuring alignment with company values, and driving engineering and manufacturing improvements across the facility. Additionally, the Plant Manager will act as the lead for the site leadership team to promote collaboration, resource optimization, and innovation, while ensuring compliance with company standards, practices, policies, and relevant legal and regulatory requirements.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing and monitoring overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
  • Driving engineering and manufacturing improvements in all areas of the facility; actively anticipating issues and troubleshooting in advance.
  • Leading employee experience and engagement initiatives that foster a culture of inclusion and belonging.
  • Promoting a positive safety culture and ensure the safety of all employees through adherence to organizational safety standards and holding the team accountable.
  • Ensuring adherence to all internal standards, practices, and policies, as well as relevant legal and regulatory compliance and reporting.
  • Leading and participating in continuous improvement efforts to regularly identify and address production improvement and cost reduction activities.
  • Overseeing the prioritization and advancement of key initiatives, as well as the development of goals, operational budgets, and processes.
  • Developing effective strategies to reach operational and financial goals while addressing any issues that may arise.
Your QualificationsAs the preferred candidate, you bring an educational background in engineering or extensive experience in plant operations gained in industrial settings, such as manufacturing facilities. With a proven history of effectively growing and managing teams, you excel in a team environment and exhibit strong leadership qualities that allow you to motivate employees through your energetic and outgoing personality. Additionally, you have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, combined with great organizational and time management skills.Your qualifications include:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in an applicable Engineering discipline is preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing industry.
  • Working knowledge of Safety Standards.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in problem-solving, analytical skills, and strong oral and written communication is required.
  • Previous experience converting paper tissue products is an asset.
  • A working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, Visual Management, and 5S methodologies is considered an asset.
