Overview:

Our Plant Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and day-to-day operations here at Provincial Store Fixtures. This role ensures successful execution of project plans, production, quality, safety, scheduling, and delivery commitments are met while driving continuous improvement, cost control, and employee development.

The Plant Manager acts as the key link between leadership, project management, engineering, programming and production, ensuring custom millwork projects are manufactured efficiently, accurately, and to specification.

Key Responsibilities



Operations & Production Management



Oversee all plant operations including Machining, Finishing, Assembly, and Shipping & Receiving departments. Plan, schedule, and coordinate manufacturing activities to meet project timelines and delivery dates. Assist in development of operational resources are developed; such as material cut lists or material take offs. Ensure efficient workflow, proper sequencing, and effective use of labor, materials, and equipment. Monitor production output, lead times, and capacity, adjusting resources as required and update ERP (Crow's Nest) software.

Quality & Craftsmanship



Review shop drawings to ensure all millwork will meet contract requirements, drawings, specifications, exceeds quality standards and are constructable. Assist PMs by monitoring outsourced work to ensure it meets company standards Support the roll out and enforcement of quality control processes throughout production. Ensure machinery and facilities are maintained, tooling and consumables are ordered. Address deficiencies, rework, and corrective actions promptly. Promote a culture of pride in craftsmanship and accountability for quality.

Safety & Compliance



Maintain a safe, clean, and organized manufacturing environment. Enforce all health and safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Lead safety meetings, training, and incident investigations. Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and workplace regulations.

Team Leadership & Development



Lead, mentor, and manage supervisors, leads, and shop personnel. Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management. Foster a positive, respectful, and solution-focused workplace culture. Address performance issues promptly and fairly.

Project Coordination



Work closely with Project Managers, Engineering, and Estimating to align production with project requirements. Participate in production meetings and contribute to planning and problem-solving. Identify risks related to schedule, labor, materials, or complexity and proactively develop solutions. Support change management for revisions, field issues, and schedule adjustments.

Financial & Resource Management



Manage labor hours and material usage. Track and report on productivity, efficiency, and cost performance. Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety. Support inventory control and material planning. Review and complete the annual compensation review in partnership with Human Resources.

Continuous Improvement



Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and throughput. Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts. Implement lean manufacturing principles where appropriate. Evaluate equipment needs, maintenance practices, and workflow layouts. Champion standardization, documentation, and best practices.

Qualifications & Experience



7+ years of experience in architectural millwork or custom woodworking manufacturing. 5+ years in a supervisory or plant management role. Strong understanding of millwork fabrication, materials, finishes, tolerances, and shop processes. Proven experience managing custom, project-based manufacturing environments. Knowledge of shop drawings, specifications, and construction documents. Solid understanding of health and safety requirements in a manufacturing setting.

Strong leadership and people-management skills. Excellent planning, organization, and problem-solving abilities. Tech-Savvy and hands-on, proactive, solution-oriented mindset. Ability to balance quality, schedule, and cost in a fast-paced environment. Clear communicator with shop staff, office teams, and senior leadership. Comfortable using production metrics, schedules, and reporting tools.

Working Conditions



Shop-based with daily interactions on the production floor. Occasional extended hours may be required to meet project deadlines. Exposure to typical manufacturing environments including noise, dust, and machinery.
