PLANT MANAGER

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, the Plant Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all plant operations in accordance with Company policies and standards in a manner that optimizes performance. This includes producing and providing high quality finished material with consideration for quality, safety, operating expenses, inventory management, and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities:



- Direct the manufacturing operation plan and business activities for the achievement of short and long-term operating and profit objectives.

- Develops and implements operating policies and procedures for the manufacturing environment.

- Coaches, leads, guides, and motivates staff and Production Supervisors in the function of Production. Engages in team building activities; ensures teamwork, relationship building, and information sharing

- Prepare and execute the plant's annual budget and preparation of monthly metrics reports.

- Identify opportunities for operational improvements and own the capital investment process for the factory.

- Continue to drive process improvement in all operational functions.

- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of products, working conditions, and the efficient use of equipment.

- Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers, suppliers and outside agencies.

- Ensures compliance with all standards for safe working conditions according to corporate and legislative health and safety standards.

Requirements:



- Completion of a Technical Trade; Business or Bachelor's Diploma or Degree

- Five to ten years of managerial/supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized manufacturing environment is essential for success in this role. A combination of education and experience will be considered.

- Demonstrated experience with an understanding of the relationship between all aspects of production including purchasing, inventory control and material tracking, equipment usages, overuse, waste management, scheduling, labour management, quality assurance, safety, and on floor maintenance.

- Advanced communication and listening skills; both oral and written, to communicate clearly and persuasively.

- Excellent interpersonal skills, which involves the ability to effectively interact with persons at all levels of the organization and for team-building purposes is required.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve human resource and production resource challenges.

- Sound judgement and decision-making skills for team and production decision-making purposes.

- Solid organizational and time and priority management skills are needed to organize and plan workload priorities on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis.

- A mechanical aptitude so as to be able to understand how equipment works, potential application and repair/maintenance requirements.

- An understanding of LEAN manufacturing techniques and waste reduction is an asset.
