Koch Fertilizer Canada, ULC is looking for an energetic, highly motivated individual to join the Upgrades Production team to contribute to the organization\'s value creation capabilities. This role offers a fast-paced working environment and opportunities for career development within our growing organization!The Plant Engineer is responsible for coordinating with other subject matter capabilities within the facility to ensure the equipment in their area of responsibility is operated and maintained to achieve long-term reliability and value. The plant engineer will be the direct contact with the operations team and work with the process engineering team to best operate the equipment/plants.What You Will Do

  • Lead efforts to return equipment to service in the production areas in an efficient manner and without repeat failures.
  • Be accountable for work required to maintain assets in your assigned area in an economical manner.
  • Work with Operations team members to develop and maintain a risk register for assets showing indications of failure and prioritize repair options based on risk and consequence of failure.
  • Develop cost effective repair options with assistance from functional experts to resolve rotating, instrument, electrical and fixed equipment issues.
  • Compile evergreen list of planned maintenance activities arising from PMs, PdMs, MI and EH&S programs, and prioritize these for the Area Supervisor.
  • Champion asset improvement efforts to reduce failures and improve quality of repairs.
  • Support and lead unplanned outage efforts to ensure troubleshooting completed to understand cause of outage, appropriate scope defined and work completed.
  • Facilitate investigations on uplanned events involving equipment failures to understand causes and recommendations to address.
  • Be the management of change owner for modifications related to reliability or maintainability of equipment.
  • Be a key member of PHA, SECOMA, PSSR and other cross-functional teams.
  • Aid in the update and management of equipment information. including spare parts, drawings, specification sheets, etc.
  • Work effectively under pressure and when dealing with critical safety and environmental issues
  • Work with safe work practices and ability to identify and mitigate process and personnel safety and hazards
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with a proven track record of success
  • Demonstrate initiative, ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Use strong analytical, critical, economic thinking, problem solving and customer service skills in daily work
  • Multitask in a fast-paced environment
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements :
  • Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Availability for flexible hours based on job
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work at heights.
  • Tolerance to occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles and toxic/caustic chemicals with appropriate PPE
  • Unassisted physical mobility in and around plant and equipment
  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel as necessary
  • Ability to travel to and enter site to access equipment
  • 5% travel, including air
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Experience in an engineering or technical role relating to tactical and strategic field operations and maintenance in a chemical or related manufacturing setting
  • B.Sc Degree in mechanical or chemical from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Knowledge of reliability based programs to improve equipment availability.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and experience with a CMMS
  • Capabilities or knowledge of operational and/or maintenance craft practices
  • Valid class five driver\'s license
What Will Put You Ahead
  • P. Eng designation, or eligibility for registration in the province of Manitoba as a Professional Engineer through APEGM
  • Previous experience in Fertilizer/chemical industry
