Primary Function:
As a key member of the K-Bro Vancouver-Enterprise management team, the Plant Controller will report to the Executive Director while working closely with the Plant Manager to ensure business unit success at K-Bro's largest hospitality facility in Canada. The Plant Controller is ultimately responsible for ensuring that all elements of the business unit financial statements are both accurate and completed in a timely manner. The individual will be expected to utilize their accounting and finance knowledge and experience in the development, maintenance and optimization of existing accounting infrastructure and processes. The Plant Controller will possess intellectual curiosity by nature, will constructively question the status quo, and will continuously seek opportunities to streamline and improve processes and outcomes for both K-Bro and its customers.
In addition to accounting and finance-related responsibilities, the Plant Controller oversees the Office Administration team. As such, the Plant Controller will be a seasoned leader possessing an abundance of EQ and management experience, in addition to technical accounting and analytical skills.
This position is based out of K-Bro's north Burnaby facility located at 8035 Enterprise Street.
Responsibilities:
The position's responsibilities include:
Taking an active role in overseeing and completing all aspects of internal accounting, finance, and controllership for the Vancouver Enterprise plant, including invoicing, payroll, receivables, payables, annual budgets, and forecasting.
Timely preparation of the plants' monthly financial package and taking a lead role in fulfilling other corporate reporting requests.
Assisting corporate with quarterly and annual audit requests in a timely manner.
Proactively identify and monitor cost overruns and support the various teams in the implementation of action plans and corrective measures.
Supporting K-Bro's customers with information and analytical requests.
Proactively monitor and follow-up on invoicing and receivables.
Liaise with customers and suppliers regarding receivables and payables, and nurture a positive partnership with K-Bro.
Oversee and manage the Office Administration team to ensure priorities and tasks are in line with business objectives.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
The ideal Plant Controller will possess the following qualifications, skills, and experience:
A professional accounting designation (CPA) is good standing a plus.
Minimum 3 years' experience in an accounting/finance/controllership role, ideally within a labour-intensive manufacturing or processing industry.
A logical thinker who takes a fact-based hands-on approach to problem-solving.
A methodical and organized professional who can manage multiple priorities and deadlines while remaining focused on producing the highest quality of work.
A mature and responsible leader possessing the ability to work with minimal supervision in both an unstructured and structured environment.
An analytical and "curious by nature" accounting professional who seeks to fully understand the meaning behind the numbers, rather than simply identifying variances and discrepancies.
An acute business acumen with demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement, discretion, initiative, while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
Expert skills with Microsoft Excel and other MS Office products.
Expert skills with ERP and payroll systems (Previous GP and Avanti or ABS experience would be considered an asset, but not a must).
Outstanding interpersonal skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Self-directed and motivated.
Customer-service mindset.
