Job Details
The City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join our Planning & Development department as a Planning Technician. Reporting to a Senior Planner, this position will be responsible for supporting research, public engagement, and preparation of materials, while also providing mapping and technical support for a variety of planning projects and processes.
Qualifications
Completion of a post secondary diploma in urban planning, geographic information systems, cartography or geomatics. Minimum 5 years of related experience.
Proficient user of ArcGIS, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software. Preference will be given to candidates who are also proficient users of Adobe Creative Suite, Tempest (Prospero), Cityworks, and SPIN II.
Working knowledge of the Municipal Government Act and other Provincial legislation, statutory plans and Land Use Bylaws.
Strong cartographic skills, with specific experience in development or a variety of maps from raw data, including thematic, physical and orthophotographic mapping.
Ability to interpret site plans and subdivision surveys is an asset.
Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
Hours of Work
We offer a compressed bi-weekly work schedule of 72 hours, Monday Friday, 8:00 - 5:00, with a biweekly regular day off (RDO).
Benefit from flexible work hours by adjusting your start and end times by 30 or 60 minutes around our core hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Compensation
The salary ranges from $74,544 - $91,747 per year, including a comprehensive benefits package with a flexible spending account, pension plan, and accrued paid vacation starting at 3 weeks per year.
Candidates not meeting the full qualifications may be considered for a development opportunity at a lower classification and salary.
