What You Will Get To Do

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Zoning & Regulation, the Planning Technician II is responsible for providing technical support to the planning department including preparing digital mapping services, database management and developing digital geographic datasets.Maintain and update the Town of Whitby's property database in AMANDA, to ensure an accurate record of Whitby's Active Property records; Ensure Development Applications are correctly associated with the correct property; Perform AMANDA maintenance. Complete Mapping Technical Service requests and analyze spatial data from Planning Staff; Maintain and update the Geodatabases and Spatial Data Layers; Maintain and update Town of Whitby maps. Maintain and update the Town of Whitby's Official Plan Schedule Data; Respond to telephone, email and in person inquiries; Provide data to clients and consultants through data sharing agreements. Providing graphic and technical services; Assisting with special or ad-hoc projects.

What You Bring To Our Team
As the successful applicant, you must possess:A two (2) year post-secondary diploma in Planning Technician, GIS, Geography, or a related discipline; A minimum of two (2) years of directly related work experience; Eligibility to become a full member with the Canadian Association of Certified Planning Technicians (C.A.C.P.T); A proficiency in AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), and databases; A working knowledge of the Planning Act and the regulations.
