The position of Planning Specialist is responsible for:
supporting internal policy initiatives, assisting with development and management of short- and long-term planning efforts, including response planning, training & exercise, and other initiatives or programs.
developing area-specific response plans within the response center's area of responsibility, and systematically preparing for future events (i.e., oil spill response, sensitive area mapping, etc.).
maintaining GIS mapping products to generate a common operating picture, synthesize and integrate environmental considerations, information, and data into planning efforts, and train staff on digital tools (i.e., EMSA, aerial surveillance, etc.).
supporting exercises, managing data from multiple sources, and tracking actions.

Post secondary degree or certificate in Emergency Management, Environmental Science, Geography, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in emergency planning, environmental response, or a related operational field.
Demonstrated proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and Microsoft Office Suite, and experience working with digital mapping tools to interpret and apply spatial data.
Knowledge of emergency response management and planning processes.
Familiarity and/or experience in wildlife observation is an asset.

Pay: $63,000.00-$86,000.00 per year
