We are actively seeking a professional Planner, RPP to join our Client. You can be an important player in Western Canada with a growing planning practice. As part of our team, you will play a crucial role in laying the groundwork for complex, interdisciplinary projects that shape our communities. The position can be based in Calgary, Edmonton. Our Planning work extends into other jurisdictions in British Columbia and Saskatchewan.

As a Planner, you will be involved in a diverse range of land development and municipal policy initiatives. We are looking for someone with a business mindset and a willingness to learn about local concerns and sensitivities, as well as the various development approval processes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the planning practices in Western Canada and ensuring excellent project delivery.
  • Engaging in business development with new, existing, and key clients.
  • Building and maintaining strategic partnerships with clients, project stakeholders, various levels of government, and sub-consultants.
  • Managing projects related to community planning, policy analysis, and land use studies.
  • Overseeing the approval process for subdivision, development, and land use Bylaw applications.
  • Providing supervision and direction to technical and professional staff, as necessary.
To excel in this role, you should bring:
  • Membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners (RPP)
  • 2-8 years of community and land use planning experience, with both private and public sector exposure, considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in land development approval and municipal planning processes.
  • Proven ability in creative problem-solving and implementing solutions.
  • Familiarity with provincial planning legislation and a willingness to learn local government policies and bylaw requirements.
  • Strong technical and policy writing skills.
  • The ability to develop and execute effective Public Engagement strategies.
  • Effective time management skills, enabling you to thrive in a high-volume, challenging environment.
  • Experience using CAD software and technical proficiency with ArcView, Adobe Illustrator, and other GIS or graphics programs.
  • A valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.
