The District of Summerland has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Pipefitter / Layer or a Pipefitter / Layer 2. Reporting on a daily basis to the Works Foreman, the Pipefitter / Layer installs and repairs domestic water connections, sanitary sewer connections, and undertakes water main repairs and maintenance.



The successful candidate must be a team player in good physical condition and be capable of handling heavy equipment. The applicant must also have thorough knowledge of WorkSafeBC procedures, have experience in reading blueprints and be able to work in an environment related to wastewater collection and water distribution.



Required training and experience for both positions include:
Senior Secondary School education or equivalent. Two (2) years related field experience Gas line locating training Valid First Aid Certificate Valid BC Driver's License -- Class 3 with air endorsement and a clean Driver's record.



Additional training - Pipefitter / Layer 2:
Water Distribution Level 1 certification through Environmental Operators Certification Program(EOCP). Waste Water Collection Level 1 certification through Environmental Operators Certification Program(preferred). Ground Disturbance Level 1 and level 2 certifications



This is a CUPE position, and the rate of pay is $35.31 (Pipefitter / Layer) or $36.03 (Pipefitter / Layer 2) per hour along with a competitive benefits package and pension.
