Physiotherapy Assistant (Casual) - Calgary

CBI Home Health is seeking experienced an experienced Physiotherapy Assistant to work in the community in the Calgary area to support patients that are transitioning from the hospital.

As an Physiotherapy Assistant at CBI Home Health, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team that uses an integrated and collaborative approach to service delivery. CBI Home Health has strengthened the traditional In-Home service delivery model by focusing on a holistic approach to care. Program Description

The In-Home Restorative Care Program will provide person centered care at home for individuals who have recently experienced a loss of functional ability because of a decline in health status or after a medical event. The goal will be to increase strength, mobility, and functional ability to allow clients to return to an established baseline that enabled them to remain at home for as long as possible. While admitted to the In-Home Restorative Care Program individuals will receive medical and nursing oversight, active rehabilitation programming, access to social work and access to personal care support depending on the individuals assessed need. Through a collaborative process including both AHS and CBI Home Health, personalized care plans will be established and will include goal setting for a short term rehabilitation and other restorative care services, in alignment with AHS Rehabilitation Model of Care.


Restorative care is a type of rehabilitation that enables clients to regain or retain their independence following the debilitating effects of acute illness, injury, or prolonged hospitalization. It is a time limited, multi-disciplinary, goal oriented and client-centered approach. Restorative care helps clients, across the continuum of care, return to home and remain at home as long as possible. It mitigates the risk or need for higher levels of health care or premature admission to a Continuing Care living option. Restorative care helps medically stable clients learn or re-learn the necessary skills required to complete their daily living activities. Restorative care can also refer to a health service setting (see above description) The services will be provided by an integrated team that includes a case manager, regulated health professionals such as OT, PT, SW, a Nurse Practitioner and rehab assistants with expertise in working with the frail elderly population and/ or adults living with complex chronic conditions.

What you need to be successful

You possess a post-secondary diploma as a Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy/Rehabilitation Assistant or Kinesiology degree is preferred You have a general knowledge of mobility aids and assistive equipment Your focus is to embrace and support person and family-centered care You are passionate, empathetic, use good judgement and apply critical thinking when making decisions You are known for your excellent communication skills and ability to work in collaboration within an interdisciplinary team as well as work independently You value the role a therapist plays in keeping clients at home when that is of personal importance A valid driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle that you can use to travel within the Calgary community as part of the CBI Home Health team
