Physiotherapist Assistant (pta)

Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Facility and Resident Care and/or the Director of Resident & Employee Programs, the Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) works under the clinical supervision of the Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist. The PTA plays a key role in supporting the delivery of PT and OT services within the home and contributes to the health and wellness of both residents and staff.



In addition to direct therapy support, this role also assists with the development and implementation of occupational health and safety initiatives, including staff training and support.



Key Responsibilities:



Support Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist in delivering therapy programs.

Assist in implementing staff health and safety programs, including training and ongoing support.

Establish and maintain positive, respectful relationships with residents and staff.

Promote a person-centered approach by encouraging resident participation, independence, and choice.

Ensure residents are treated with dignity, compassion, and respect in all interactions.


Qualifications:



Completion of a Physiotherapy Assistant course or acceptable equivalent.

Minimum 1 year of experience in a Long Term Care setting.

Current First Aid and CPR certification.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills with a compassionate, resident-focused approach.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physically capable of supporting and transferring residents as required (must meet physical demands outlined in the Job Safety Analysis).

Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.

Problem-solving abilities and good judgment.

High level of flexibility, adaptability, and resourcefulness.

Demonstrated ethics, professionalism, and respect for resident confidentiality.

$19.83 - $24.32 per hour. Compensation is based on qualifications, including completion of a PTA diploma.
