British Columbia Children\xe2\x80\x99s Hospital (BC Children\xe2\x80\x99s) and the University of British Columbia (UBC) are seeking a Physician Clinical Associate for the Department of Pediatric Orthopaedics. BC Children\xe2\x80\x99s serves as the major referral centre for infants and children throughout the province of British Columbia and the Yukon territory (population 5.1 million). UBC is Canada\xe2\x80\x99s third largest university and consistently ranks among the 40 best universities in the world. Primarily situated in Vancouver, UBC is a research-intensive university and has an economic impact of $4 billion to the provincial economy.

The successful candidate will join a department of nine faculty members at a freestanding Children\xe2\x80\x99s Hospital built in 2017, providing general pediatric orthopaedic services, and specialized care for children with scoliosis and spinal deformities, neuromuscular diseases, leg length discrepancies, musculoskeletal oncology, and traumas. The candidate will gain in-depth experience with children and their families who have general pediatric orthopaedic conditions, scoliosis and spinal deformities, neuromuscular diseases, leg length discrepancies, musculoskeletal oncology, and musculoskeletal trauma.

The Physician Clinical Associate will work daily with the Orthopaedic Surgeons and the inter-disciplinary team in providing evidence-based services to children, with the primary role to assess and treat children with musculoskeletal conditions, coordinate their care and optimize their non-operative management. This role would have a significant program development component, including the restructuring of care pathways and developing a provincial model of care. This position will be affiliated with the department of Orthopaedics at UBC, with an expectation to teach learners, and an academic mandate.

To be eligible a candidate will either have completed training in Pediatrics at a Royal College certified site or equivalent and be able to obtain licensure to practice general pediatrics in British Columbia, or have completed training in Orthopaedic Surgery and be eligible for licensure to practice Orthopeadics in British Columbia.

The successful candidate will also be committed to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per the Truth & Reconciliation Commission (2015) and BC\'s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).

As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (The Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).

The anticipated start date is Spring 2024. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
