Reporting to the Manager of Accounting Services, the incumbent is responsible for managing physician billing information, processing claims to the Yukon Government and WCB on the behalf of the physicians, while ensuring accurate billing practices and other accounting activities are followed that relates to the Yukon Hospital Corporation (YHC). The incumbent is responsible for coordinating with physicians to ensure accurate submissions and apply medical guidelines using establish fee code guides.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

Knowledge of medical office assistant practices and procedures, along with basic knowledge of accounting theory; Good knowledge of computerized accounting systems (Plexia Electronic Medical Systems, Meditech); Good knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Suites); Good knowledge of various filing systems; Good oral and written communication skills; Strong organizational skills; Ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload; Ability to maintain confidentiality; Ability to work independently; Ability to work in a cross - cultural environment.

Licenses/Certificates/Experience required:

Medical Office Assistant Diploma; Two (2) years experience in a medical office; Medical terminology; and Office Administration Program

An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be considered.
