We are seeking a Full-Time permanent Physician Assistant (PA) to support patient care delivery and contribute to the implementation of programs that enhance the quality of care for our patients. As a registered and licensed Physician Assistant, you provide patient-centered care in collaboration with supervising physicians, with a focus on health promotion, disease prevention, and clinical management. Under the direction and supervision of the Registered Physician and reporting to the Human Resources and Operations Manager, the Physician Assistant will work as part of an interprofessional team to deliver comprehensive care and support the development of clinical initiatives that improve patient outcomes. Working to the full scope of their practice, the Physician Assistant will also work both collaboratively and independently to assess patients, formulate diagnoses, and support treatment plans within established medical directives and practice guidelines.

Responsibilities:



Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including histories, physical exams, and differential diagnoses Order, review, and interpret diagnostic tests in accordance with medical directives Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians Prescribe medications under delegated authority and provide follow-up care, including monitoring progress and adjusting plans Perform delegated minor procedures such as suturing, injections, wound care, staple/suture removal, and basic casting Educate patients on health promotion, disease prevention, lifestyle changes, and general wellness. Participate in preventive care initiatives such as chronic disease management Collaborate with physicians and the circle of care to ensure coordinated patient care Coordinate referrals to specialists and allied health providers as needed Maintain accurate EMR documentation and ensure timely communication within the care team.
As a member of the Port Arthur Health Centre Family Health Team, you will:

Collaborate with community and hospital partners to enhance programs and patient care services. Participate in the development, implementation, and improvement of patient programs. Contribute to the overall functioning and success of the Family Health Team. Engage in quality improvement activities, including data collection and evaluation. Support a healthy, collaborative workplace that values learning, diversity, privacy, and professional standards.

Qualifications:



Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program or equivalent is required Registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) as required for Physician Assistants Minimum 2 years' experience working as a Physician Assistant in a community-based or hospital based clinical team Proof of BCLS Certification Demonstrated clinical experience in primary care, family medicine, or relevant clinical setting Proof of professional liability insurance Experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team Comfortable with electronic documentation and use of technology in the workplace

Skills and Competencies:



Excellent written and oral communication skills Confidence to practice independently Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution Excellent critical thinking skills and clinical decision making See value and able work effectively as a collaborative team member. Proficiency in EMR systems and basic computer skills. Knowledge of Canadian healthcare standards and privacy regulations.
