The starting annual salary for a full-time School Teacher position ranges from $61,838 to $108,458, with placement on the July 1, 2024 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. Salary for part-time positions is pro-rated.

Job Summary & Responsibilities




Mountain Elementary is a vibrant K-5 school nestled in picturesque Mountain Village on Sumas Mountain. The staff, students and families have established this elementary school as a school of excellence. Mountain Elementary is a safe school, with high behavioral expectations and standards. Students are actively taught appropriate social skills and they are reinforced through the use of school wide behavior support systems.

Education & Experience



Teacher training at the Elementary level with major/minor in Kinesiology Practicum work in Physical Health Education at the Elementary level. Experience teaching Physical Health Education at the Elementary level. Successfully complete and maintain non-violent crisis intervention certification Eligible for B.C. Certification Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports

Organization & Planning: Ability to plan and organize for effective instruction, differentiation and assessment Classroom Management: Create and maintain an optimal learning environment for each student while managing student behavior and classroom dynamics. Facilitation & Engagement: Ability to capture and maintain students' interest, effort, participation and enthusiasm for both the content and the process of learning Assessment & Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies. Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives Caring & Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive and supportive of all students * Flexibility & Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in the ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances
