About the Role
This Compliance role will be based in British Columbia and requires you to assist in ensuring that our Project operations at LNG Canada comply with environmental regulations and standards. This role will lead their team confidently into and through stringent regulatory relationships, as well as community and local industry relationships. Key responsibilities may include development and implementation of environmental compliance programs, supporting environmental compliance initiatives conducting audits and assessments, contributing to our sustainability goals and provide guidance to stakeholders.
This role reports to the Phase 2 HSSE Manager, leads a team consisting of 2 direct reports (1 Environmental Advisors, and 1 Compliance Advisor), and owns several stakeholder relationships.

You will use your expertise to:
Develop and implement environmental compliance programs, conduct audits and assessments, and provide guidance to stakeholders.
Work closely with external and indigenous relations to develop and implement an environmental non-governmental organization and indigenous engagement programs
Conduct regular environmental inspections and audits to ensure compliance with laws and company policies.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulatory requirements, such as Environmental Management Act (EMA) and Waste Discharge Authorizations (WDA), BC Environmental Assessment Act (BC EAA), Environmental Assessment Certificate (EAC) and Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), Impact Assessment Act (IAA) and Federal Decision Statement (FDS), Fisheries Act Authorization (FAA), and all other applicable permits.
Develop and implement waste management plans, including waste minimization, treatment, and disposal.
Maintain environmental records, manage regulatory permits, and prepare reports on environmental compliance.
Collaborate with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure compliance and address environmental concerns.
Liaise closely with the Asset team to ensure all permitting, compliance and environmental aspects are in place for the Project Execute phase.
Identify any design or construction defects and work closely with the Construction team to implement solutions and mitigate associated environmental/compliance risks.
Provide input to the Project risk register and implement associated annual work planning processes.
Primary focal point for site regulatory interactions (compliance inspections, information requests and audits).
Provide technical support to the HSSE incident reporting and investigation process.
Assist HSSE manager with management of the environmental and compliance aspects of the HSSE budget.
Provide environmental and compliance technical input to all Execute phase contracts.
Accountable for the processes, reporting, management and improvement related to the following HSSE-CF elements
To be successful, you will have:
Bachelor's degree in environmental science or Engineering, or a related field
At least 10+ years of experience in environmental compliance, with a proven track record in regulatory oversight
Qualified environmental professional or equivalent
Proficient in environmental compliance software and data management systems
Strong knowledge of environmental laws and regulations, including the Canadian Environmental Protection Act and BC Environmental Management Act
Excellent communication and analytical skills
Candidates with the following Qualifications will be preferred:
Experience in Oil & Gas industrial / environment
LNG project and or operations experience highly regarded
Certification in environmental management (e.g., ISO 14001, LEED)
This role requires that you:
Be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
Live in the beautiful District of Stikine (Kitimat/Terrace). For applicants located outside of the region, this role will result in
temporarily relocating to Kitimat

Are willing to comply with LNGC's drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
Undergo a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs.
This role is expected to end approximately 5-Year subject to a positive Phase 2 Project Final Investment Decision, which is expected by Q3 2026.
You will be required to work on a regular 5/2 rotation, however, please know that this role may be expected to be on call on a rotational basis during the year and/or during site specific situations.
