As a member of the Pharmacy Operations team, reporting to the Manager, Pharmacy Operations, the Pharmacy Technician will provide a variety of technical functions related to the preparation, dispensing and distribution of medication to inpatients and outpatient clinics utilizing a computerized distribution system. These duties include but are not limited to: unit-dose dispensing, maintaining ward stock, delivery of medication, purchasing and inventory control activities, performing compounding of pharmaceutical products, monitoring usage and expiry dates, maintaining storage conditions and pharmacy equipment, auditing and reporting discrepancies, and outpatient dispensing as require. This position also supports and participates in risk management, patient safety, and quality improvement activities. The Pharmacy Technician will practice to the full scope, including independent double checking the technical work of other technicians as required by the pharmacist. The Pharmacy Technician performs work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations, professional standards and guidelines, and CAMH corporate and departmental policies and procedures. Qualifications
You must have completed a recognized Pharmacy Technician program or diploma, and have one year experience in the field. Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists is required. Previous experience in a hospital environment and computerized systems would be advantageous. Good knowledge of pharmacy practices and pharmacy mathematics, effective organization and time management skills, the ability to perform duties with flexibility, combined with a great degree of accuracy are required. The successful candidate must also process excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and the patient population. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.

Please Note: This full-time, contract (12 months) position is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit.
Salary Range: $27.72 - $31.95 per hour
