PHARMACY TECHNICIAN (25-0000558)



Bargaining Unit: OPSEU Paramedical

Status: TEMPORARY Full Time

Department: Pharmacy Services

Site: St. Joseph's Hospital

Location: Thunder Bay, ON

Shifts: Days including weekends

Rate of Pay: $32.32 - $37.26 per hour



Reporting to the Manager - Pharmacy Services and as a member of the Pharmacy Team, the Pharmacy Technician is responsible for the provision of pharmacy services to the clients in the hospital and outpatients within the context of the hospitals mission, goals, and objectives.



In the event we are unable to recruit a licensed Pharmacy Technician, we may consider a Pharmacy Technician in training until licensed as a Pharmacy Technician.



Qualifications:



Education/Experience:



Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists*

Knowledge of inpatient pharmacy dispensing processes using unit dose*

Knowledge of pharmacy automation including experience with unit dose packaging and automated dispensing cabinets preferred.*

Knowledge of Medication Reconciliation practices preferred.*



Skills/Abilities

:



Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing*

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers, SJCG staff*

Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment*

Strong time management skills and attention to detail*

Demonstrated accuracy, organizational skills, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills*

Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Care, Compassion, and Commitment*

Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.*



Assets:



Experience in inventory control, sterile pharmaceuticals preparation, and hospital pharmacy.



CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.*

Offers of employment made to external candidates are conditional upon providing proof of COVID-19 vaccination as per the

SJCG Immunization Policy IMS-04-005

or proof of valid medical exemption, prior to the offered effective date. If proof of vaccination or valid medical exemption is not provided, the offer of employment is rescinded.*

Must obtain and maintain registration with OCP as a Registered Pharmacy Technician
