The Technical Practice Team has an exciting opportunity for a temporary 24-month Technical Practice Leader! Reporting to the Technical Practice Manager, the Technical Practice Leader (TPL) works independently and in collaboration with the Technical Practice team and other internal and external parties.
Description:
The Pharmacy Technician II is recognized as an expert technical practitioner who is accountable for guiding the development, implementation, evaluation and ongoing management of identified projects and programs to standardize and advance pharmacy technician practice and assistant training materials. The Pharmacy Technician II will identify innovative solutions and provide advice and direction for solving problems related to pharmacy technical practice and pharmacy operational processes.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Active registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician. A minimum of 5 years' experience in hospital pharmacy practice.

Additional Required Qualifications:

A minimum of 5 years' experience as a pharmacy technician in hospital pharmacy, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity, with practice experience in all aspects of drug distribution including compounding and repackaging. Leadership skills including an understanding of adult learning concepts, demonstrated ability to coach and teach, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability in research and/or scholarly activity. Ability to translate complex concepts into understandable components. Experience and knowledge regarding best pharmacy practice, within Alberta and throughout Canada. Ability to prioritize workload and multiple projects on an ongoing basis to meet the needs of a dynamic work environment. Project management skills to plan, develop and implement new programs. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite programs, and pharmacy software programs. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years informal pharmacy leadership experience (e.g. technician educator, medication safety, compounding, repackaging, and/or quality assurance lead, project technician). Completion of change management education. Completion of Introduction to LEADs in a Caring Environment. Membership with a pharmacy professional organization. Recent volunteer experience with a pharmacy professional organization, regulatory or certification body.
