As a Pharmacy Technician you will be responsible for technical and clerical functions in the area assigned. Duties include unit-dose or traditional dispensing, medication order entry, medication cart refill, ward stock replenishment, inventory management, sterile products preparation, manufacturing and pre-packaging. All rotations include responsibility for continuous quality improvement and workload measurement.

Requirements:

  • Pharmacy Technician Diploma from a Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP) accredited college
  • Registered with the Ontario College of Pharmacists, or eligible for registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Minimum of 1 year related experience
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in preparation of hazardous drugs is strongly preferred
  • Experience with EPIC clinical information system, Pyxis automated dispensing system and sterile preparation preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrates values consistent with SHN\xe2\x80\xb2s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation
  • Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards
  • Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community
  • Excellent work performance and attendance record
Asset:
  • Previous hospital pharmacy experience
  • Prior experience with chemotherapy preparation and pharmacy automation with Omnicell Robotic System
  • Ability to speak another language
