The Pharmacy Technician performs routine pharmaceutical work of a technical and clerical nature.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

drug distribution duties including filling, compounding, and checking prescriptions and ward stock; preparing sterile intravenous product, including cancer chemotherapy and total parenteral nutrition (TPN); interviewing patients to create a Best Possible Med History (BPMH) and entering medication history information into the clinical information system (CIS); assisting with inventory maintenance (e.g., purchasing, receiving, returns, etc.); conveying information and materials related to the activities of the Department; maintaining pharmacy supplies and equipment; performing other related and allied duties which contribute to the orderly and efficient operation of the Pharmacy Department; PacMed and PacVision Unit dosing dispensing; The Pharmacy Technician will have demonstrated competency in sterile parenteral preparation, checking prescriptions and ward stock, and obtaining Best Possible Medication Histories, or must successfully complete an internal certification/competency program(s) in at least two of these three areas within one year.

Minimum Qualifications:

successful completion of Grade 12; this position requires that the incumbent be currently registered or obtain registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the PEI College of Pharmacy (as outlined in the Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician Regulations); a working knowledge of computers and pharmacy related software; neat and legible handwriting; the ability to make accurate mathematical calculations; access to reliable transportation is required; a good previous work and attendance record;

Other Qualifications:

previous experience in hospital pharmacy practice is considered an asset; additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.

Pay: $29.04-$32.80 per hour
