Your Opportunity:
Please note that this Pharmacy Technician position is a Monday to Friday only. Alberta Children's Hospital (ACH) is the largest public hospital for sick children in Alberta. ACH is a leader in pediatric and neonatal care and is a major referral center for pediatric malignancies and complex hematological treatment including pediatric bone marrow transplants and Alberta's only hospice for children (Rotary Flames House) located next door. Here at ACH we offer a variety of Pharmacy Inpatient Services include our Oncology Satellite Pharmacy, Day Medicine, Rotary Flames House, and Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) onsite and offsite and at the Foothills Medical Center. Our Pharmacy Technicians work collaboratively with the health care team performing moderately complex duties; such as clinical supporting roles, full scope of practice, and responsibilities related to all aspects of drug distribution. Description:
As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Prior hospital experience with a variety of responsibilities including but not limited to checking, sterile compounding, non-sterile compounding and all aspects of drug distribution such as ward stock, and narcotics. 2 years + experience in the last 5 years in pediatrics required 2 years+ experience in the last 5 years in compounding sterile and non-sterile preparations Required to compound sterile and non-sterile preparations (including hazardous) and work with arms extended for sustained periods of time 2 years + experience in the last 5 years in all aspects of Chemotherapy; including but not limited to receiving, embedded worksheet setup, recent certification for preparation, checking and medication distribution preferred It is a requirement to be able to work with chemotherapy and/or hazardous drugs, work at our NICU Satellite at FMC, Rotary Flames House, Oncology Satellite and able to work all shifts including on-call duty (2245-0700) Required to lift from 30-50 pounds, bending repetitively, push/pull carts. Repetitive wrist and hand movement required. Must be able to withstand long periods of sitting, standing and walking. Must have excellent organizational, problem-solving and decision-making ability Must be self-motivated and demonstrate an excellent customer service attitude The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent ACH experience. Active membership with a pharmacy professional organization such as PTSA and/or CAPhO. Preference given to individuals with recent pediatric and/or oncology experience along with current chemotherapy IV certification status. Willow Ambulatory (WAM) experience will be viewed as an asset. Investigational and Special Access Drugs knowledge. Experience in a Clinical Deployed Technician role. Prior experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
