Your Opportunity:

Core duties may include, but are not limited to: Order entry, medication preparation, repackaging and final product checking of sterile and non-sterile products, individual patient prescriptions, and ward stock. Providing guidance to and assisting with the training and orientation of staff and students. Providing clinical support through obtaining information to facilitate medication reconciliation activities and clarifies discrepancies and/or collects and organizes information to support the provision of direct patient care. Building interactive relationships with all members of the healthcare team including communicating with nursing staff to clarify orders and requests, triaging drug information questions and distribution issues Maintaining a high standard of performance through completion of internal validation programs that assess proficiency in identified tasks such as aseptic technique, computer order entry, and final product checking. Participating in special projects and programs as assigned. Maintaining department records, statistics and preparing reports as required. Some duties require lifting of up to 15-30 lbs. and pushing and pulling of carts.

Description:

As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician. Additional Required Qualifications:

Sterile and Non-sterile compounding with a minimum of 1 year of experience. Final product checking with a minimum of 1 year experience. Required ability to lift 15-25lbs and push and pull carts for unit dose delivery. Required to work with arms extended for sustained periods of time, including repetitive movement of hands and wrists, in all aspects of the Pharmacy Technician duties. Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year hospital pharmacy experience preferred. Experience with Windows-based computer application and Pharmacy Connect Care/ Epic Willow application preferred. Membership with a pharmacy professional organization is preferred.
