Your Opportunity:

Barrhead Pharmacy Production Center is our North East distribution center providing medication repackaging services of unit dose and patient specific medications for both Acute and Long Term Care patients. The Pharmacy Technician will work under limited supervision of the Operations Manager and alongside Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacists. This specialized position performs complex aspects of: coordinating drug distribution, monitoring workflow processes for efficiency, managing perpetual inventory turnover processes to minimize waste of pharmaceuticals, and repackaging and final checking medications with use of automated equipment to ensure safe and quality patient care. Core duties may include, but are not limited to: order entry, remote checking, adhering to scheduled batches with precision, meeting courier deadlines without delay or disruption, leading workload with automated equipment specifically FastPak Elite & Verify, final checking medications, reporting medication errors as per internal processes, ability to provide supervision to Pharmacy Assistants, and to assist with the training and orientation of staff and students. Participating in special projects and working groups as assigned. Maintaining ordering supplies, department records, and statistics for preparing reports as required. Building interactive relationships members of healthcare teams including respectful communication to clarify orders and requests, triaging drug information questions and distribution issues. Maintaining a high standard of performance through completion of internal validation programs that assess proficiency in identified tasks such as computer order entry, and final product checking. As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician. Additional Required Qualifications:

2-year Regulated Pharmacy Technician with Alberta College of Pharmacists. 2-year Hospital Related Pharmacy Drug Distribution Center. 2 Year experience with FastPak Elite & Verify Automated Repackaging Equipment. 2-year Rural Hospital Pharmacy experience including but not limited to: order entry in Meditech, validated for final product checking, inventory medication management and procurement. Demonstrate proficiency in the following: communication (verbal and written), interpersonal abilities, respectful work environments, organizational and problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and in teams as required, computer skills, continual personal quality improvement and lifelong learning. Must be in good physical condition as majority of shift involves: typing, static positions, heavy lifting, standing, crouching, bending, pushing, pulling, kneeling, walking and standing for extended periods of time. Preferred Qualifications:

Meditech or Epic Computer Software. Centralized Drug Production Service Model Experience Inventory Management Experience. Preceptor for Technician Student Learning Rotations. Remote Workload Checking and Team Support.
