Your Opportunity:

As a member of the North Zone Hub Support & Central Ordering Inventory Team, the Pharmacy Technician will have the opportunity to work with multiple Pharmacy Team members throughout multiple rural sites. Key responsibilities for supporting Pharmacy Services North East may include, but are not limited to: time management to review and process purchase orders, ordering pharmaceuticals and supplies from distribution warehouses or direct from vendors, communicating backorders and procuring suitable alternatives on behalf of teams, maintaining inventory accuracy of pharmaceuticals stocked at site level, monitoring inventory turns to reduce outdated medications, arranging transport and shipments throughout AHS Pharmacy as required, reconciling prices according to contract changes, third party billing, liaising with: Vendors, Procurement & Inventory, Finance regarding inventory processes, receiving and returning drug shipments, ability to troubleshoot inventory related issues, and process improvement to better serve patient care needs. Providing guidance to and assisting with the training and orientation of staff and students. Participating in special projects, supporting provincial pharmacy programs as assigned. Maintaining department records, statistics and preparing reports as required. Performs other duties deemed necessary or assigned. Must be in good physical condition as majority of shift involves: typing, static positions, visual acuity for computer work, ability to concentrate and focus, sitting for extended periods of time.

Description:

As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician. Additional Required Qualifications:

3+ years Rural Hospital Pharmacy Experience. Proficient use of Mckesson/CPDN Online Ordering, Meditech, Kroll, Oracle, Markview, Excel and Microsoft Word are required. Experience with multiple forms of placing orders, both manual direct buy purchases and online ordering of medications and supplies is required. Excellent time management is required with the ability to complete multiple tasks within short timelines, demonstrating prioritization with respect to daily deadlines is essential for this specific position. An essential skill for this position is the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully to meet service needs, both written and verbal, as an independent representative of our pharmacy program or cooperatively in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to create a positive team-focused working atmosphere. Problem solving skills and ability to network for results will be an asset. Demonstrated computer or word processing skills. Committed to continual personal quality improvement and lifelong learning. Preferred Qualifications:

Currently employed in a rural hospital Pharmacy Central Ordering related position. Procuring and managing medication inventories for multiple hospital teams. Time managing workload for ordering, meeting cutoff times of vendors. 1+ years Inventory Control focused experience for multi-site-multi department is preferred.
